Founder's Story

My name is Ajay Kumar Kamat, and I am the founder of Pawan Ratna.

I come from Madhubani, Bihar — a place famous for Mithila Painting, known as the land of Sita Mata, and the sasural of Shri Ram. This land has always taught me values, culture, patience, and hard work, and these values are deeply connected with Pawan Ratna.

Before Pawan Ratna – My First Steps in Business

Before starting Pawan Ratna, life tested me a lot.

After completing my BCA, I was sick for almost two years and stayed in my village. That time was difficult, both mentally and physically, but it also changed my thinking. I wanted to do something on my own, even from my village.

My first real business experience started with WhatsApp.

The very first thing I ever sold in my life was jackfruit (कटहल) from my own tree. I created a WhatsApp group, added people, but I didn’t have any product to sell. Then I clicked a photo of the jackfruit on my tree, posted it in the group, and sold it to my uncle for ₹10. That was my first sale ever.

After that, I started an online food delivery business in my village through WhatsApp. I began selling Aaloo Chup, a popular Bihari street food, to villagers and nearby areas.

One of my childhood friends (chaddi buddy), Kanhaiya Kamat, helped me a lot in selling Aaloo Chup. Slowly, people started calling me “Aaloo Chup Wala Engineer”, because I was doing this after completing BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications). It was humiliating, because many people were laughing at me, but I didn’t stop or think about it — because inside, I knew I wanted to do something big.

The business was going well, but then COVID lockdown came. Around the same time, I had to go through surgery, and the business had to stop.

That small business was named Yummyzo. I even made a simple logo using Canva and started it properly, but circumstances didn’t allow it to continue.

This phase taught me one strong lesson — starting small is not small thinking.

How My Business Journey Started

My interest in business started when I chose Entrepreneurship as an extra subject during my BCA. That subject changed my thinking and made me realize that I want to build something of my own.

I completed my BCA from Lovely Professional University, Punjab, and then pursued an MBA in Digital Marketing and Entrepreneurship. I wanted to learn not just theory, but real skills that can help in building a business.

After my MBA, I did a job for around 6 months, but honestly, I never felt connected to it. Deep inside, I always felt that I am meant to do my own business. Fear and overthinking stopped me many times, but the dream never left.

The Real Start of Pawan Ratna

In November 2023, I finally decided to take the risk and registered Pawan Ratna.

The business started from my small village Haripatti (Bhaiyatol), Madhubani, Bihar. There was no big investment, no office, and no team. I started very simply — by reselling products.

After a few months, I realized that there were many problems with suppliers — pricing issues, trust issues, and lack of support. That’s when I understood that instead of depending on others, I should build a platform that truly helps businesses.

Why Pawan Ratna Became a B2B Platform

Pawan Ratna was created to become a B2B platform where businesses can connect directly and grow together.

We started with jewelry, but the vision is much bigger.

My promise is simple:

Anyone can do business with Pawan Ratna.
Money should not be a barrier.
If you have the intention to do business, we will support you.

Our goal is to empower businesses, so that businesses can empower the world for a happier world.

The Meaning Behind the Name Pawan Ratna!

The name Pawan Ratna is very close to my heart.

Pawan comes from my father’s name — Pawan Kamat.

Ratna comes from my mother’s name — Ratna Devi.

This brand is named after my parents because I love them deeply, and I want people to know me and my work through my parents’ names. Everything I am today is because of their values, sacrifices, and blessings.

For me, Pawan Ratna is not just a business name — it is my identity, respect, and responsibility.

A Personal Phase I Can Never Forget

In business, anything can happen. I never thought I would have to move away from home, or that my parents and family would, in their own way, ask me to leave the house.

To do business, I literally had to move away from my family.

I understand that my family’s intention was always right — they wanted me to earn, stay safe, and live a stable life. But inside me, there was confusion. I didn’t know exactly where to go, but I knew one thing clearly — I cannot stop.

At that time, it felt like my family had pushed me out of the house. I could not understand their situation then. Later, I realized how difficult it must have been for them to take all the blame from society while still believing that I would become successful. Their intention was always right. Sometimes you understand your parents immediately, and sometimes you understand them later.

During this phase, I first went to Surat, Gujarat, to my Mama Ji, and my Mama Ji, Amit Bhai, and their family helped me live for 9 months. Then I came back home again for a friend’s marriage, and again my family had no option but to say, “Leave our house.” This time it was more difficult because I had lost almost all belief and stability. But I always believed in God, especially Santoshi Mata Ji, who always protected me and helped me. I believe that it was God’s decision that I had to move away from home.

Then Ved Prakash Singh helped me stay in Delhi. For almost 2 months, he and his family kept me there for free and always loved me like a younger brother. Then I started earning so I could live on my own.

During these two years, apart from them, Saurabh Singh and Upendra Sachan, with whom I did BCA at Lovely Professional University, Punjab, always supported me. I always called Saurabh and shared all my ideas and thoughts with him. Now I am thinking about how he listened to everything without any complaint and always supported me. He is like real support for me — he always stood by me. He is also from Bihar and literally like a real brother to me.

Then Abhay — I also called him and shared all my ideas and everything with him. He also listened to everything and always supported me. He is someone to whom I can say anything, good or bad, without thinking that he will judge me.

Sunny, with whom I did MBA, helped me a lot when I went to Surat. We enjoyed a lot, and he never made me feel like I was struggling. He is like a friend who always helps you, even when you are at the height of a mountain. If you say jump, he will say jump. He is like the energy of the group.

Prince Dubey, who also did MBA with us, helped me communicate with people and socialize. He and his family made me feel at home when I came to Delhi and I was missing my own home. They never let me feel alone and always treated me like their own family.

We all became one family during this struggling phase, where I had lost hope. I just believed in God. His blessings helped me meet all these friends who supported me.

Never lose hope — believe in God. He always makes a better plan; you just need to have belief, patience, and keep doing everything you can. Friends can really become your family, and even a little support can completely change someone’s life. So if you ever get a chance, help your friends — because a small support can change someone’s life.

That phase taught me something very deep:
Believe in God, have patience, and never lose hope. Challenges are part of the journey, and support can come from the most unexpected places. Keep going, even when it feels like nothing is working — every effort brings you closer to your goal. We often want results immediately, but success is a process, and every result comes from the consistent steps we take.

What I Learned in This Journey

Business is not easy. It is very real.

Some days, you feel like a king — everything works, sales come, confidence is high.

Some days, you feel like a loser — nothing works, money feels tight, and you feel like you have nothing, not even yourself.

This is the truth of business.

In the last two years, I learned that motivation is not enough. Motivation comes and goes, especially on horrible days.

The real formula is simple:

Believe in yourself. Plan properly. Execute daily. And stay disciplined and consistent.

If you do this, slowly things start working.

From ₹0 to Growing Step by Step

Pawan Ratna started from ₹0, literally.

It started with:

  • WhatsApp
  • Just 50–100 designs

Today:

  • 10,000+ designs are live
  • Serving wholesalers, retailers, resellers, and new entrepreneurs
  • And many more things are yet to come

This journey is still in progress.

Business with Purpose

I strongly believe that business should not be for show-off.

Business should be done with purpose, because good businesses create jobs, support families, and make life better.

That’s why 5% of Pawan Ratna’s profit from each order is planned to be used for social work through Pawan Ratna Foundation (not registered yet).

2 Years Completed, Long Way to Go

In November 2025, Pawan Ratna completed 2 years.

The vision is clear, the journey continues, and the goal remains the same — to build a one-stop solution for all business needs.

If you want to do business, start it.
Don’t do it for show-off.
Do it with honesty, discipline, and purpose.

Learning from M.S. Dhoni Sir's Life

I am also a big fan of M.S. Dhoni, and I have learned a lot from him. His life and journey taught me the importance of believing in the process, because results are only a part of the process — you must never skip the steps that lead there. Patience, calmness, and consistency are key, and even when things seem slow, progress is happening. What inspires me the most is that he also came from a humble family background, yet through discipline, hard work, and faith in the process, he reached the top. His journey reminds me that no matter where you start from, focus, patience, and persistence can take you far.
